I'm Lindsey Thome, a writer and amateur naturalist documenting the seasonal lives of plants, animals, and fungi in Southern California's Santa Ana River watershed.
My background is in water, planning, and ecological systems, but The Living Calendar grew from a simpler practice: returning to the same places, paying attention, and recording what changes.
I created this site as a digital natural history journal—a place for field observations, photographs, longer essays, and the patient work of learning a landscape over time.
